Oskar Metsavaht Attends Neonyt Sustainability Panel in Berlin
Oskar Metsavaht, Osklen Creative Director and Instituto-E President, in partnership with Rio Ethical Fashion, will speak in a panel at Neonyt, a global hub for fashion, sustainability and innovation, which will take place from January 14thto 16th2020, in Berlin. The panel, “Rumble in the Jungle – Fight for Amazon” will address social, environmental and cultural projects in the Amazon, such as Osklen and Instituto-E have become legitimate “Amazon Guardians”, creating a new economy for forest folks focusing on practices and use of Pirarucu (Arapaima Gigas, also known as pirarucu, is a species of arapaima native to the basin of the Amazon River. Once believed to be the sole species in the genus, it is among the largest freshwater fish) leather replacing bovine leather. Today, 48% of Osklen accessories are made of these low environmental impact materials involving 380 communities and benefiting approximately 1,000 riverine families.
