Akra Collection
The Akra Collection, by Samuray Martins in partnership with artisans, is based on slow fashion and its premise is that the results of the labor are timeless pieces that can be passed on to different generations, without any attachment to the fashion industry release calendars or market trends.
After defining the shape, the colors of the natural dyes as well as the materials that will be mixed with the buriti and piassava fibers, a technical sheet is passed on to the artisans- who have full monitoring from the designer and his team- from the prototypes of each style until final deliveries.
The Akra Project indirectly employs around 150 artisans and this number may increase according to the demand for orders and collections. For the debut collection, there will be 10 different styles among bags and home wear pieces – hammocks, lamps and cachepots for candles, named after typical Maranhense culture.
