EPISÓDIO #14 | EMILY IN PARIS, BUT MAKE IT BRAZILIAN – THE SERPUI CLUTCH SUCCESS
If a Serpui bag cannot fit a big iPhone, it doesn’t go into production. For Serpui, 40 years producing the most celebrated Brazilian handbags, even the most beautiful handbag must work as a bag.
A pioneer in the use of Brazilian natural materials, Serpui quickly won over international fashion editors and buyers. Patricia Field used many of the brand’s creations in Sex and the City and the fourth season of Emily in Paris opened with a Serpui clutch. Among the celebrities who also love Serpui’s pieces are Jennifer Aniston and Madonna.
Serpui has four stores in Brazil and sells through 200 multibrands retailers around the world. More than 3,000 bags a year are made by hand. Her collections follow the international retail calendar — resort, spring/summer, high summer — but the product retains a Brazilian, tropical style.
And there are the animals. Toucans, elephants, horses and flamingos have been Serpui’s signature, alongside Brazilian stones. Her bags make people happy and so does Serpui. She makes sure the artisans find joy doing the work. If there is no pleasure, there is no point.
